A zoo with over 300 exotic animals in Les Sables d’Olonne
A haven of greenery, the site is home to over 55 exotic species, including colorful macaws, giraffes, giant anteaters, monkeys and makis, lions, maned wolves, panthers, wallabys, red pandas, otters and penguins. A partner of the LPO, the ecozoo is also a haven for many local bird species. Other representatives of local fauna are also protected on the site, including hedgehogs, voles, squirrels and bats.
Animations organized throughout the day enable visitors to learn a great deal about all the species present in the zoo: visitors attend the animals’ meals, which are an opportunity to observe them in ideal conditions and to benefit from the comments of the park’s caretakers. Les Sables d’Olonne Zoo also regularly organizes Nature Days, offering a wide range of family activities.
Plan your visit to Les Sables Zoo
The ecozoo is open from early February to mid-November, afternoons only in early spring and autumn, and all day from April to September. If you’re camping in Les Sables d’Olonne during the summer, you should know that it opens its doors from 9:30 am to 7:00 pm, and until 7:30 pm in July and August. Located south of the port and center of Les Sables, it can be reached by bus in just a few minutes from the SNCF train station, for example. On site, the snack bar “La terrasse des Saïmiris” welcomes you from early April to late September, offering savoury snacks, sweet treats and cold drinks. The ethnic boutique also sells arts and crafts from around the world, books, soft toys and goodies.
