Aquarium de Vendée
Discover the marine world with your family
Located in Talmont-Saint-Hilaire on avenue de la Mine, the Aquarium de Vendée is open all year round from 10:00 to 12:30 and from 14:00 to 18:00, and in summer all day without interruption from 9:30 to 19:00. It’s only 20 minutes from the 4-star campsite in Vendée. It presents 500 species of animals in 3 main areas: the French and European coasts area, with species from the Atlantic and Mediterranean; the Indo-Pacific area; and the tropical area. From seahorses and sharks to colorful clownfish, starfish and rays, there’s something for every age to marvel at. A temporary exhibition space also features works by artists inspired by the marine world. The Vendée Aquarium takes around 1h30 to visit. Full admission for adults is 15.80 euros, and 11.80 euros for children aged 3 to 12. Admission is free for children under 3. Reduced rates are available for disabled adults and children, and for accompanying adults. The site also offers special offers such as student rates, family packs and season tickets.
Educational activities for all
The price of admission to the Vendée Aquarium includes the opportunity to take part in numerous activities organized throughout the year: games for children, educational workshops, encounters around the tanks and discussions with the site’s caretakers. Come and discover the aquarium from our campsite in Talmont-Saint-Hilaire. There’s a wide range of activities to discover on the site, including feeding, focusing on a particular environment, such as mangroves and coral reefs, or dedicated to a particular species, such as sharks, or an issue, such as the environment and the danger facing the oceans. The tactile marine animal discovery workshop is aimed at children aged 3 to 12: they’ll discover the morphology of animals as diverse as spider crabs, sea urchins, starfish and oysters. To ensure that children enjoy an instructive, interactive and fun visit to the aquarium, a booklet is provided at the start of the tour: it includes games, quizzes and riddles based on the site’s 3 main worlds. The aquarium also features a treasure hunt to stimulate the youngest visitors’ powers of observation.
